Project Updates

In the Spring of 2022, APT earmarked $80,000 towards the Cochise Garden.  Our garden has grown under the leadership of Jenny Derr and Kim Redhage, our Cochise Garden Coordinators. Thank you for your leadership!

Blue Watermelon Project

In addition, the APT applied for and was awarded the Blue Watermelon Project grant for the second year in a row to provide students with Chef in the Garden lessons and instruction for the 2023-24 school year. The Blue Watermelon Project is a nonprofit that has chefs in 30+ schools throughout the Phoenix metro area.  

Our 2023-2024 Chef in the Garden program kicked off in September with third graders.  Students made Spiced Mint Couscous and planted mint in the garden.
